The house is of wooden construction with a batten roof and thatching. On the first floor is a balcony overlooking the countryside. In the garden, at the foot of a tree on the right is a toro or stone lantern that we find everywhere in Japan and whose shape varies as much as the dimension.

At the top and bottom of the drawing pass bands of fog. This is not a conventional effect here – often in reality, towards the evening, opaque mists rise which cut into layered horizons most unexpectedly.
