Jumbo Gateway
The Jumbo floating restaurant, also known as “Tai Pak”, operated in Aberdeen on the South of Hong Kong Island for decades as a “must visit” tourist stop for seafood and a staple weekend dim sum venue for many. The Jumbo was arguably the last great symbol of maritime life and the history in Aberdeen; a fishing community rich with Hong Kong heritage. The gateway on the journey to dine was a floating platform that uniquely framed your destination, this design made the Jumbo a living artwork to pause and admire.
The vivid (or gaudy) light show this monolith represented was visible from the Peak and any in-bound aircraft that saw visitors lucky enough to fly over it and have a window seat. An unceremonious exit from Hong Kong however saw it towed out to sea, and then, having not gone more than a few kilometers, it plunged to the depths never to be seen again.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Anaglyph?
Halkes Galleries will be adding more Hong Kong 3d Anaglyphs in the future. There will be some additional sizes and some images will be presented in black and white. The ability to purchase these directly online will be added soon! This currently is just a taste of what is to come!
What is Chromaluxe Printing?
ChromaLuxe printing is a process that uses dye sublimation to fuse images onto metal or wood (we are using aluminium) panels. The process involves printing an image onto sublimation paper, then transferring it to the metal using heat. The white ChromaLuxe panels soak up the ink during sublimation, producing vibrant colours. The image is infused into the aluminium, rather than just onto it, which makes the print more scratch-resistant and easier to clean. For more information go HERE
